HAVEN // RESIDENT RECORD
Rek Varad
\n
Outer Gate Commander
On Duty Age 34 · Nikto · Assignment Leader · Haven Security
“Haven survived because nothing out there knew where to look.”
Known Profile
Rek commands the watch at Haven’s outer approaches. He remembers the Fall clearly enough that caution does not feel like cowardice to him.
His priority is simple: every expedition, radio signal and new contact must be weighed against the possibility of leading something dangerous back to Haven.
Appearance
Rek is a rugged Nikto with weathered, textured features and a permanently watchful expression. His battered Haven security armor carries faded steel-blue markings, and his comms rig is rarely out of reach.

No Unnecessary Risks
Once per assignment, Rek may convert a failed roll into a withdrawal. The challenge fails, but the team avoids the normal consequence. When leading three or more NPCs, assists provide +3 instead of +2.
Risk
Rek refuses optional objectives that expose Haven personnel to danger without a clear settlement benefit.
Known Relationships
Nima Sol — Respects her skill; strongly disagrees with how far she wants to push Haven’s range.
Jax Ordo — Sees a capable guard whose need to prove himself can become dangerous.
Mara Vesh — One of the people Rek trusts to tell him when a mission is no longer worth the cost.
Things You’ve Learned
◆ Rek prefers observation and withdrawal to unnecessary fights.
◆ He treats Haven’s secrecy as one of its most important defenses.
◆ He will commit people to danger when Haven genuinely needs something, but rarely for curiosity alone.
