Heartroom Engineer
Heartroom Age 52 · Weequay · Infrastructure Specialist · Assignment Engineer
“The reactor isn’t angry. It’s disappointed.”
Known Profile
Torren keeps the old ship systems beneath Haven functioning through repairs built on repairs built on repairs. The reactor chamber is known as the Heartroom; to Torren, it is simply the problem that never stops becoming a different problem.
He understands Haven’s power, circulation and improvised infrastructure better than anyone alive, which is exactly why pulling him away from the settlement is never a casual decision.
Appearance
Torren is an older Weequay with deeply weathered features, long leathery head tendrils and a graying beard. He usually smells faintly of coolant, hot metal and whatever the Heartroom burned through that day.

Old Republic Training
Torren automatically recognizes common Republic machinery and infrastructure. His first Tech challenge involving familiar Republic systems cannot critically fail. Before a machinery assignment he can also identify one likely complication.
Risk
Torren is not a field explorer. During extreme weather, long wilderness travel or physically demanding expeditions, he suffers –2 Survival.
Known Relationships
Pella Ryn — Talented apprentice; source of equal parts pride and headaches.
Mara Vesh — Fellow survivor from Haven’s earliest years.
Rek Varad — Coordinates closely with him whenever security problems threaten Haven’s infrastructure.
Things You’ve Learned
◆ Torren knows which Haven systems are original, which are improvised and which should have stopped working years ago.
◆ He talks to the reactor while repairing it. Opinions differ on whether this is a joke.
◆ If Torren personally leaves Haven for a technical mission, the problem is probably important.
